On a different note, I think I have accomplished something significant. It is extraordinarily significant to me. I have managed to raise enough money to establish an endowed book fund in my brother’s name at the University of Texas. It’s only the beginning as far as I am concerned. My husband and I, my parents, and one of my grandfathers intend to continue to contribute to the fund. I think in about 5 years it will be an endowed scholarship fund.

It fills my heart with such hope, happiness, pride, and yet sorrow. I am so proud of myself for not giving up on this. I am so proud that his name will live on. I am so proud that the bookplate will have his picture and name on it, and that years from now someone might open a book and see him in it. I am so hopeful that we will be able to help some other young man make it through school some day. I am so proud because he would have been so proud. I am so sad that a fund had to be established at all.

  1. Kudos to you, Mrs. Hope.
What a beautiful tribute to your brother. I am sad for you that there was a need for a tribute, but am so proud that you are doing something so positive with his memory.

  2. Just a wonderful way to remember your brother and to carry on his goodwil.

I also wanted to wish you the best in your quest for motherhood. I so know what the waiting womb feels like. I too have been married for 7 years (17/5/98) and have been TTC for over 4 years.
