the bananas were green

So dh and I were joking around that if *this* IUI doesn’t work, it’s all his fault. I mean, come on. I’ve got six follicles, and I’m acutely aware that both ovaries have been ovulating something.

Dh couldn’t come to the IUI today, so we came up with a code phrase if the sample was not so hot. The bananas were green. I don’t eat bananas, but I hear that when they’re green, they taste even worse.

Everything was on the low side today. Count was 15 million / ml, motility was 25% (I think), and normal morphology was 3% (WHO). Post wash, he put back 17 million motile sperm, 6% normal forms.

Plus he had trouble again with my cervix. Threading the catheter took at least 10 minutes. I think this time was actually worse than last time.

He mentioned wanting to dilate my cervix, but said he isn’t ready to do that yet. Anyone had this much trouble with the IUIs? Or had your cervix dilated?

We also chatted about the fact that dh’s morphology consistently sucks.

And now I play that little game with hope. Hope and hope. But not too much.

  1. A friend I met through the RESOLVE board had quite the problem with her cervix, and I’m almost positive that they dialated her.
She used to keep a blog up (http://lifeisbutful.blogspot.com), but it’s been a while since she posted.

Green bananas aren’t the end of the world. All you need is one that is reasonably ripe, and it seems like you’ve definitely got more than one.

    Good luck, Mrs. Hope.
    -D.

  2. Your post made me laugh because I only eat bananas when they are green.

Can’t help you on the cervix issue though.

  3. I’ll be hoping right along with you. Everything is crossed over here.

  4. Here’s hoping that one yellow guy made it through. Interesting choice of phrasing given the already phallic nature of bananas.

  5. 6 follicles! Holy! Hope at least one meets his match.

  6. It only takes one… I hope things go well.

I’m sorry I have no experience with the IUI or cervix dilation.

  8. I do love mythical bridges…. they seem to cause almost as much stress for me as the bridges right in front of my face.

keep us updated–we’ll all be thinking of you!
