yes, she is that weird

Who’s up for a little SIL bashing? I am! I’ve posted about her before, but this story is too good to be true.

SIL (J’s brother’s wife) is one of those fertile women. Years ago (long before we were even contemplating children) she and BIL had an oopsie with a condom. She called MIL *that day* to inform her that she might be pregnant, and that she would think something was wrong if she wasn’t. Guess what? She was!

They waited awhile for their second, but they started trying maybe 6 months before we did this time, and they now have a one year old.

She has pestered, bugged, asked, pleaded, begged, and annoyed J and I about having children for, let’s say 6 years. Constantly. I can guarantee when we visit them to be asked no less than 4 times per day. Seriously.

Her birthday is in November. My BIL bought her a new ring, and planned to give it to her at the top of the ferris wheel at the Texas State Fair. She told us she thought he was acting funny and knew something was up. Here’s the kicker…

She thought that BIL was going to tell her that I was pregnant. That we had planned it so perfectly to coincide with her birthday. That me being pregnant is 1) plannable 2) important enough to be a “gift” to her.

I told J that if he ever tells me that SIL is pregnant while we are on top of something tall, that he should back far far away from the edge, lest he “accidently” fall.

  1. Ugh. No bashing… just support here.

  2. Your SIL sounds as stupid as mine. Darwin would have a cow.

  3. haven’t you noticed that FERTILES are barren in the head!

  4. I’m glad I’m not the only one that has one of those in the family.

  6. You know, Mrs. Hope, I fell in love with this blog because of one of your first SIL posts.

I had just found out *my* SIL was pregnant with #4 (because they had three boys and just couldn’t stop without a girl! Which of course, they got). It was so unfair, and doubly so with her selfish and insensitive personality.

You gotta laugh at a person who thinks your life is all about them… her “gift,” huh? That’s rich.

    -D.
