getting ready ***updated***

So retrieval is this morning. We leave in about an hour. I’m having one of those absolutely irrational thoughts – I woke up not feeling my ovaries and am now wondering why?

I want to say thank you to so many of you – for your support, for continuing to check my (now) lousy blog, for wanting this for me almost as much as I want it for myself.

I also have to give a “shout-out” to my “other” girls for a minute. About 2 years ago now (a little longer) I joined a board on Babycenter. There was a group of about 20-25 women all trying to conceive around the same time. Eventually, the group moved to a private yahoo forum. I was a member there for a little over a year. They are wonderful women – one other woman from the group is pregnant after her IVF cycle, and another woman might try injects/IUIs this fall. There were a couple of other women who needed Clomid.

I unjoined the group after we knew the pregnancy wasn’t viable last cycle. It wasn’t about them – it was about the way I was getting upset everytime I logged on. Many of them are trying for their second, and quite a few are now pregnant with #2. And I have nothing to contribute about feeding or sleep scheduling or labor. So, for me, it was like watching a train wreck – I couldn’t look away, even though I wanted to.

But these girls (women, whatever) rallied for me. They got together and bought J and I gift certificates for movies and dinner at a nice restaurant. They were incredibly generous, despite my abandonment of them.

There are so many people out there – in bloggy land, discussion group land, and in real life that are praying for us, sending us positive thoughts, and wishing for us the same dream we have for ourselves.

The love and support are cherished and overwhelming.

Egg retrieval went fine. 21 eggs. I’ll find out how many were successfully ICSI’d tomorrow afternoon.

To your second point about blogland/internet support, I wanted to thank you for writing this blog so honestly and openly. As you know, finding people online who are going through the same things that you are helps alleviate the isolation that IF can create.
