a different day

Well, I got my meds. There are a few oddities – I guess they go with the territory because it’s a company I’ve never dealt with before. I’m relieved to have them.

The painting is moving at a snail’s pace. I’m really not sure what to do about it. At the rate he moved today, this may not be done by the weekend.

This next part – I’m not sure to write about or not. I asked my doctor if he would follow-up with the Colorado doctor about what he would do if the laminaria placement 30 days prior did not result in a satisfactory transfer. I was curious because I could never pin him down during our phone consults.

The message I got today was a little odd. The nurse apologized before giving the message. She then said he recommended a gestational carrier. And apologized again. It sounded as though she got the written message, and then may have even called my doctor to make sure he didn’t want to tell me himself (I didn’t expect or request that) – but I’m completely hypothesizing here based on pieces of what she said. It’s not my doctor’s recommendation – I made sure that was the case. She asked if he had ever discussed it with me – I said no. She said – it’s a really big step. And apologized some more.

I don’t care that it’s what the Colorado doctor said. I just worry – probably unecessarily – about the delivery of the message. Why was the nurse so concerned about telling me this? The Colorado doctor is not my doctor – and I find it odd that she was so apologetic? sympathetic? about his opinion. Maybe she thinks I’ve never thought of this stuff and that she was delivering potentially new and devastating news? I wasn’t emotional on the phone – I was slightly surprised that the Colorado doctor jumped to gestational carrier so quickly, but that’s all. I don’t think I’m that fragile?

I’m going to try not to fret about it. I wonder if it will even come up at my appointment later this week?

  1. i think the nurse’s reaction definitely calls for bringing it up. good luck at the appointment.

  2. Well, the nurse seemed to appreciate that such news could hardly be welcome.

  4. Hot shot Colorado doctor doesn’t know you. He probably suggested a carrier because your case is not an easy one. You aren’t fragile by any means.

I wonder what your doctor will have to say about it.

  5. I hope that your appointment goes well and that all of your questions are answered.
