and the roller coaster goes back up

Yeah, like I could wait until Friday for another blood draw. I went this morning, as well as had a sonogram this afternoon.

hCG went up – still not a great doubling rate – from 2209 yesterday to 2641 today (doubling time of 93 hours, I believe). Progesterone and estrogen still great. Spotting brown blood continues.

The sonogram: two, yes, two gestational sacs with two fetal poles. One is slightly smaller than the other. Both squarely in the uterus.

So, maybe I’m losing one. Maybe I’m losing both. Maybe not. There’s nothing else to know at this point. I’m to go back Tuesday for another scan. My doctor specifically requested that I come Tuesday instead of Wednesday because he is leaving Wednesday evening on a trip. Hmmm. That makes me nervous, too. Why the big deal about seeing me on Tuesday? Oh, and I’m officially allowed to get blood draws whenever I want.

I’m so grateful we saw two. I’m so grateful this isn’t an ectopic. What we saw today was the best we could have seen.

But I’m still so hesitant to believe.

  1. (doing a happy dance) Might as well celebrate another up day! Maybe your uterus is just cleaning out the bad to make way for the good; all of the scars and the past sorrow. Twins. How cool. Babies that stuck. Wonderful. Babies that stuck where they were supposed to stick…so many reasons to celebrate, I wish that spotting would leave for good! I was praying so hard for you today.

  2. OH-I’m celebrating today too. Good news! πŸ™‚

  17. Wahoo! Double the good news. I’ll be praying for you guys and those two little babies.

I bled brown blood for the first 10 weeks when I was pregnant with my daughter (who is now almost 3). It scared me to death every minute of the day, but turned out to be nothing bad at all.

Keep the faith, and try not to lose your mind with the waiting and worrying.

  18. Wow! Two! That is GOOD news–I just chalk up the brown and other stuff to your body getting ready to host these TWO babies!=) Thinking of you!

  19. Mrs. Hope, it is so very good to hear that your numbers are back up and more importantly, you got to see your babies. I am looking forward to hearing more good news on Tuesday, but in the meantime, cautiously celebrating for you.

  24. You must be going out of your mind, stay strong, it may still be ok, two is better then none, even at this stage and the bleeding maybe normal πŸ™‚

  25. Oh Larissa! TWO fetail poles and in the right place!

My fingers are crossed that they stay right where they are and continue to grow.

    Big hug to you xx

  26. dunno what to say about the hcg. I have to confess to not feeling optimistic when you told the numbers yesterday, but seeign fetal poles at this stage is a very very good sign. Just really really hoping for a happy ending and the hcg being a red herring this time.

I’m hoping they both listen to your pleas and stay, thrive, grow.

  31. Thank god! Two sweet babies in just the right spot. Hang in there. Try not to torture yourself with what-ifs. Try to just live in the moment. Hope they gave you a picture of the little ones. πŸ™‚

  32. oh man, I feel dizzy from the ride you are on. Still out here in nowhere land keeping toes and fingers crossed. Who would ever think that keeping pregnant would/could be so much like a soap opera. Truly amazing.

  33. I’m just sending you lots of good thoughts. And a quiet happy yay. And hope that there is only good news from here.
