one tiny, tiny heartbeat

We saw one. One tiny, tiny heartbeat. I almost couldn’t look at the screen at first – I was so scared. Everything was a little bigger than last time – the sac, the yolk sac, the fetal pole.

The heartbeat was hard to discern at first, and the u/s machine couldn’t pick up the heart rate itself, so we had to do the old-fashioned way – count. It was about 100 bpm – which at 6w3d is ok. The fetal pole measured at 6w1d, and there’s an error of measurement of two days.

The second sac seems to have completely vanished. I’m ok with that, as long as we get to keep this one.

I go back late Monday.

  25. Fantastic news. You can do this! Stay in that warm comfy womb little baby.

  26. I found you through Hopeful Mother, and I’m so happy for your little growing bean. IVF is a long and hard road to struggle through (and I’ve only had to endure it once). I can only imagine what you’ve been through. Here’s to the happy ending you deserve.

  27. Congrats sweetie….I am happy for you and J.

  28. While I am ecstatic for you in this moment, I also feel that it must be a very trying time on your nerves. That little one is hanging in there and is just getting settled for the long road ahead. I will continue to send out prayers and thoughts for you and your newly created family. Remember to take care of you…

  29. So glad one is hanging on tight. I am sorry you lost the second one. It is so bitter sweet.

Hang in there, little one, and keep growing strong.

  30. Fabulous news! I’m so happy for you.

Hoping the good news just keeps on coming.

It is a bit sad about the second embryo, no matter how you look at it.

  31. As sad as it is about the lost embryo, it could provide a good explanation about the spotting and numbers not doubling as quickly. That happened to me when 3 became 2 and the 2 ended up very healthy!

  32. Hooray!! How wonderful it must have been to see that beating heart. I am, however, sorry for your loss. The same thing happened to us – we lost our twin at 7 weeks. (I was so thrilled to finally be PG, it didn’t bother me as much as one might think it would.) You are finally, really, truly on your way to being a mommy. Congratulations!

  33. *gasp* yayyyy!!

  34. That is wonderful news. I am so happy for you.

  35. OMG! OMG! OMG! i’m crying and over the moon happy for you. you SO deserve this beautiful miracle!

  36. Great news!

  37. That’s wonderful! Grow healthy little one!

  38. Oh hon, what a horrid couple of days you had to endure.

Everything squarely crossed that your little one continues to grow and stay strong.
