I'm back

You probably didn’t even know I was gone.

We took a trip to the East Coast. My grandfather died during this past IVF cycle – 2 days before retrieval. My mother and aunts and uncles had a memorial service a week ago in Cape May, NJ. He had lived there for years with my grandmother before she died. He loved the beach, so the setting was quite appropriate. We had beautiful weather, and it was good to see that side of the family – I rarely see them.

And I didn’t even care that my 16 year old cousin had a one week old baby in tow. Yeah, you read that right. The baby my mother suggested we look into adopting as we began fresh cycle #4.

We were there for 2 days and then moved on to stay with a friend in Connecticut. We had a lovely time – she and her husband were more than gracious hosts. We went into NYC 3 days – to see a Yankee game, Central Park, the Met, do one of those touristy boat tours, and possibly most important to Mr. Hope, to see a taping of The Colbert Report.

We had a blast on our “last hurrah” as everyone keeps calling it. I did well, minus dealing with some sinus issues and some swelling after the return flight. It’s nice to be home.

23w6d today. And the nursery furniture is supposed to arrive today. Spooky and exciting at the same time.
