pinching myself

Surely, I must be dreaming. Dreaming a happy dream and not a nightmare, which is what it seemed I dreamed for so long.

I’m sitting in my house. Nothing extraordinary about that. It’s early on Sunday morning. Nope, nothing extraordinary there for this early riser.

I’m sitting in my house in a room that has never had a purpose before. It’s been filled with boxes from our move 5 years ago. Filled with furniture that we didn’t use anymore. Filled with papers that desperately needed to be sorted through.

Over the past month we’ve sorted and moved and rearranged.

So now I’m sitting in a room that’s painted two shades of green. In a room with a crib. And a dresser. And I’m gently rocking away in a fluffy chair. Her first stuffed animals are sitting beside me, along with her first book. I’m sitting with her in my belly, flipping about.

I’m sitting in our daughter’s room. With tears of gratitude, of joy, and of disbelief sliding down my cheeks. Knowing that this moment is real and hoping that the dreams I’m having will continue to come true.
