we won't kill her, right?

So we missed our Infant Care class this weekend. I’ll blame it on pregnancy induced foggy brain. I had in my head that it wasn’t for two more weeks. Of course, the remaining classes prior to her arrival are full, but we are now on a waiting list. So, hopefully we’ll at least get the diapers on the bottom half and the milk in the top half. Right?

All seems well. There may or may not be a slow down in her growth based on scans at the OB’s office (there was an alarming scan – at least to me – about 2 weeks ago, then a more reassuring one a week ago); we’ll know much more after the appointment with the perinatologist on Thursday. My weight gain has slowed in the past 6-8 weeks – I’m basically where I was then. On my scale I haven’t cracked 20 pounds yet, on the doctor’s I’m around 22 or 23. But only 1 pound, maybe 2 in the past 8 weeks. BabyHope is doing well during the BPPs, and my fluid levels are great. We did start discussing induction dates, and so far we’re probably looking at either Jan 7 or 12.

Thanksgiving – the holidays in general – are so, so different this year. There is so much to be thankful for. I am pregnant. I was pregnant for Thanksgiving. I was pregnant when we decorated the tree on Saturday. BabyHope is the best gift I will receive this year and next. There is nothing I want except for her to arrive safe and sound.

The following picture just about sums it up. Soon to be 3. So different from previous years.

  8. Seeing those stockings makes it seem so real, totally teared up over here.

  9. It’s crazy how much things can change in the scope of a year.

  10. I think that the main function of those classes is really reassurance, not education. Most of newborn care is pretty obvious, and they should brief you on the basics at the hospital as well.

It won’t be long now! Merry Christmas.
