two months

Two months ago, I was in the hospital, hunkering down for what I thought would be an all day affair. It was a mere 4 hours later that BabyHope arrived, tiny but screaming and healthy.

Two months ago I carried her around in my belly, unsure that any of this was real. Today, she is napping on my chest after an exerting morning (bath, mobile, gym, bouncy seat, sling).

Two months ago my heart expanded and became fragile in a whole new, wonderful way.

Two months.

I can’t believe it’s March. I swear I missed most of January and all of February.

My tiny baby isn’t so tiny anymore. I think she’s probably around 9 and a half pounds and will soon be out of newborn clothes. She’s begun sleeping longer stretches at night. And the smiles, sly and fleeting, are emerging. The sleepy smiles are to die for.

Two months ago my life changed forever. I’m still counting days and weeks and months, but now it’s in her life. And each one is precious and I’m not wishing them away as I wished time away a year ago. And there’s no time for me.

Two months. BabyHope’s lifetime so far.

How extraordinarily lucky can one infertile girl get?

  2. Happy (2 mo) birthday, BabyHope.
And happy 2 months of motherhood, Mrs. Hope. Perhaps, the best part about it all is that this is only the beginning…

  3. And now time goes quicker than ever before… yet somehow we appreciate every fleeting moment.

  4. I’m so happy for you and your wonderful updates–it makes me smile.
