it's the little things

BabyHope’s mobility has become a problem on the changing table. She doesn’t want to be there, and will try to roll, sit, crawl, or climb her way out or off in any way possible. Really not a good idea when there’s poop involved. Or a three and a half foot drop to the floor.

So I’ve been trying to keep her occupied by singing songs or giving her something to play with while I’m changing her diaper.

Over the weekend, I remember the bag of stuffed animals. The animals I collected over time as gifts or purchases myself. The animals I’d started to give away or sell at garage sales because I’d never be able to give them to a child of my own.

Guess what? I can give them to BabyHope. I handed her a little cat out of the bag on Saturday, and I almost burst into tears as I did.

It really is the little things that are part of the big dream come true.

  1. Awwww I so glad BabyHope is there to be the recipient. Mental note…must remember that trick someday. šŸ˜€

  2. Zoey is on the go just like BabyHope. I swear my heart rate is dangerously high lately. On difficult days I’ve given up on the changing table and settle on the floor to change the poopy diaper. It isn’t any easier, but at least I don’t worry about her falling.

  3. My friend was just here today visiting, and told me she put a hook in the ceiling, and attached a chain to it, and put the mobile from the crib over the changing table, just out of her daughters reach. It keeps her occupied the entire time.
And I am very glad you have your sweet baby girl to give those animals too!

  4. I can’t wait to see BabyHope moving all about! I’m so happy for you that you are cherishing all of those little things with your girl. šŸ™‚

  5. i am so happy for you! it is the little moments that matter so much isn’t it?

  6. That’s so sweet. My son has a couple of my special stuffed animals, too.

I ended up moving the changing pad to the floor and changing my boy there. Worked for us!

  7. Hi! I found you last month through Google, I believe, when I was looking for Hopeville IF blogs and bookmarked your blog. Then today, I saw a link to this/your blog from Ashley’s blog, so I am back and am leaving a comment just to let you know that I visited!

Anyway, your daughter is very beautiful. It is good that you finally had her!

have a great weekend despite the rainy forecast!
