the snot that stayed

The post from yesterday was about one moment from yesterday. Yesterday was a doozy.

BabyHope and I were both sick around Thanksgiving. I’m well, but BabyHope snot had decided to take permanent residence. It was just the clear drainy stuff, so I was just monitoring it. Wednesday afternoon, she clearly began feeling worse. I thought it was another cold.

We made it through Thursday with little sleep. Then Friday morning I knew something was wrong. Her cough had changed, her snot was green, and she was running a fever. Fortunately, I got an appointment for Friday afternoon with the pediatrician.

Poor baby has two infected ears. She doesn’t have RSV. She did puke all over herself and me as the pediatrician checked her throat. And no, we didn’t have a change of clothes with us. Dumb.

I was wearing two shirts, so she wore one home.

Poor baby. Her first ear infection, her first round of antibiotics.

  1. Ahhhh, feel better soon BabyHope.
But I’ve heard getting exposed to those germies help build up their immunity… if that helps.

  2. We’ve had the crud here too. And Miss A was a snot factory for 2 months straight when she was almost 1 (Can you say 4 ear infections in 6 weeks? Plus a UTI from the diarrhea from the antibiotics?). Hope she feels better soon. Sick kiddos are so, so not fun at all.

  3. oh poor baby! I hope she starts feeling better soon.

  4. Poor thing. But that is pretty impressive, first antibiotics and ear infection at 11mo! And she was a winter baby, which makes it even more amazing. What a good mommy you have been. Hope she is feeling well soon.

  5. Poor BabyHope! I hope the antibiotics do their job quickly and she’s feeling better soon!

  6. We’re leaving tomorrow to go out of town, wanted to drop by and wish y’all a Merry Christmas. xoxo

  7. Hoping that babyhope is feeling much better now, and that the antibiotics didn’t have any awful knock-on effects.
