chipster topped brownies

Brownies with chocolate chip cookies on top. That was this week’s Tuesdays with Dorie recipe.

Everyone who likes chocolate seemed to like these. I thought they were quite good – almost too rich on the first day, but they mellowed a little on the second day. I left out the walnuts – I don’t like walnuts in my brownies.

I think the purpose is to have a crunchy top and a soft brownie bottom, but in the future I might experiment with baking the brownie base for a little bit before topping with the cookie dough. The cookie dough was a little crispier than I like, but it made for a great contrast in texture.

Of course, my thoughts went immediately to topping brownies with peanut butter cookie dough. I will probably do this at some point!

  1. I did the non homemade version of this after getting the idea from you and it was gone in less than 15 minutes at work. I did bake the brownie part for a bit before adding the cookie dough as I like it soft too. And no nuts! I don’t like them either in my brownies.

  2. Ok, so I will be attempting to create a gluten and dairy free version of these. They look delicious! I have a favorite gf brownie recipe and a favorite gf cookie recipe, so how would I go about creating the combo? Thanks for sharing, my mouth is watering at the thought!

  3. oooh, those look so yummy! I’m with ya on the PB variation!

  4. Thanks for the recipe. I can’t wait to try it. If I have enough of my fav gf grain, I may make them tomorrow. BTW, I shoot with a Nikon d40(hoping to upgrade to a d90 soon) and the Nikkor 50mm 1.4g. I LOVE this lens. I just got it, and it is amazing. If you have a nikon, it is a must. My sis and I just started doing some professional work, so I am hoping to have enough extra $ for a new body soon.

  5. They look and sound delicious!!! Might have to try that one!

  6. Mmm sounds really good!
