showing off

I feel the need to show off my sister in photos.  She’s nine years younger than me and suddenly grown up and gorgeous.  I have some musings on weddings that I’m not sure I’ll ever get to.  And the spider?  Still hanging out in my front yard.  It’s pretty crazy.  I wish I had a macro lens – I could get some amazing photos.  You’ll have to deal with my portrait lens.  Great for sisters, okay for spiders.

Want more?  I have all my sister’s pictures from my camera (but none of the spider) in a picasa album.  Click here.

All were taken with my Canon Rebel XTi and my Canon 50 mm 1:1.4.  Most were taken by me.  The lighting was so hard in the space at the actual venue – I couldn’t get really good stuff without either using my built in flash or putting the ISO way up high.

I’m behind on blogs and emails.  9 days away, a sick toddler, and a sister’s wedding will do that to you.

  1. These are all so beautiful! I adore the spider ones and Baby Hope is so cute. I love her curls. Cooper’s curls are coming back after his first haircut and I don’t think I will be able to cut them. I shoot with a Nikon, but have a 50mm 1.4 as well and LOVE it. It is really all I use. Also, you should consider getting a speed light for your camera. I love having a nice flash. I still prefer to shoot without one, but sometimes that just isn’t an option. It is amazing how well a good attachable flash can work. My sis and I are shooting our first wedding this week, and I must say I am a little nervous about lighting!

  2. That’s a bummer. It is tricky to not blow out all the whites and blind everyone. At home I usually just bounce it off my white ceilings, but that doesn’t always work. I also get frustrated b/c I turn the camera a lot, and when you are trying to bounce a flash that is a big pain. But I think you did a great job!

  3. Lovely pictures. 🙂
