“You’re so sweaty, Mommy.”

BabyHope doesn’t like sweat.  Well, she doesn’t like my sweat.  Or Mr. Hope’s sweat.

We both try to run at least a few times a week – sometimes I push her in the stroller, sometimes I go early in the morning.  But she sees me in my running clothes, and the fear of sweat begins.

She doesn’t want me to touch her – if I do, the look of disgust on her face is priceless.  “Are you so sweaty, Mommy?” she asks.  If I answer no, she’ll narrow her eyes and contemplate allowing me to put her in the car seat.  If I say yes, “I will climb up by myself,” is her reply.

Today, after a run, I touched her hands as I fastened the car seat straps.  She held them out like a pair of dirty socks and wrinkled up her nose.  “I’m so sweaty, Mommy.  I need a shower.”

There’s something priceless about the mind of a two year old.

  1. Remarkable indeed. 🙂

  2. Priceless!

O just asks me “you went for a run, Mommy?” when I’m in my running clothes. No fear of sweat here. Yet anyway. 🙂

  3. A HA! Suddenly I’m understanding more why BabyHope always looks at me quite warily when I approach her at our runs…especially those days I would go one one run first before you guys got there and I was SO SWEATY I had to change shirts. She was probably gagging at me!
    What a cutie patootie.

  4. Our 3 1/2 year old daughter doesn’t allow either of us to touch her. It leads to “I’m sweaty” and “I want to take a bath”, intermingled with baby-like wailing. She even throws in a few “wah”s just for good measure. Getting her dressed is a major battle for the same reasons. If she only actually knew what sweat was. Wow!
